<p>In recent years, information, communication and digital technologies have played a critical role in different communities around the world. Some groups have found that visual information is one of many tools for advocacy. Combining the power of maps and rich content has proved to be an eye-opening tool to raise awareness.</p>
<p>From hand-made maps to online maps, the ancient art of mapmaking is a powerful strategy not only to tell a story but also to raise awareness about social, political and environmental issues. Many stories are yet to be told through mapmaking.</p>
